A court in Paris on Thursday sentenced the former French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, to five years in prison for criminal conspiracy. Sarkosy, who left office in May 2012, was convicted on the accusations that the late Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, helped fund his 2007 presidential campaign with millions of euros in exchange for diplomatic favours.
