FULL LIST: NAFDAC releases names of withdrawn, suspended, cancelled products in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration andControl, NAFDAC, has released the names of withdrawn, suspended and cancelledproducts in Nigeria. NAFDAC, in a post via their website on Tuesday, said theproducts are no longer permitted for manufacture, importation, exportation,distribution, advertisement, sale and use within Nigeria. DAILY POST reports that the product includesArtemether/Lumefantrine 40mg/240mg Tablets, Amaryl M SR Tablets, AbacavirSulfate/Lamivudine Dispersible Tablets 60mg/30mg, Aprovasc 150mg/5mg tablets,ASAQ(Artesunate amodiaquine Winthrop) 100mg/270mg Tablets, Betopic Eye drop,Efavirenz 600mg Tablets and Flagyl Suspension. Others are Iliadin Adult 0.05% Metered Nose Spray, Invanz 1gInjections and Invega (Paliperidone) 3mg extended release tablets. According to the NAFDAC, the certificate of registration ofa product is said to be withdrawn when the use of the certificate ofregistration of that product is discontinued upon request of the marketauthorisation holder. It added that the certificate of registration of a productmay be suspended when the conditions upon which the NAFDAC registration licensewas issued are no longer met, and the agency is to decide. This is coming less than 24 hours after NAFDAC launched acomprehensive national strategy and roadmap aimed at eliminating industriallyproduced trans-fatty acids, TFAs, from Nigeria’s food supply chain.
