Tinubu to address Nigerians Wednesday for Independence Day

President Bola Tinubu will address the nation on Wednesdayat 7 am to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary. In a statement on Tuesday, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser tothe president on information and strategy, said all television, radio stations,and other electronic media outlets should join the network services of theNigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation ofNigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast. This will be the third time Tinubu will address the nationon Independence Day since May 29, 2023, when he assumed office. The Independence Day speech by the president has become atradition to commemorate the October 1, 1960, independence from British rule. During the nationwide broadcast, the president is expectedto discuss the state of the nation and highlight the policies of theadministration. On Monday, the federal government announced the cancellationof the parade earlier scheduled to celebrate the country’s 65th independenceanniversary on October 1. The federal government had declared Wednesday as a publicholiday for the Independence Day celebration.
