SPOTTED: Wale Edun visits London art fair after reports of ill health

Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister ofthe economy, was recently seen at the O’DA Art Gallery booth during the 1-54Contemporary African Art Fair in London. The fair, which runs from October 16 to 19 at SomersetHouse, features a strong Nigerian presence, with galleries such as O’DA Artamong the exhibitors. The gallery’s exhibition, titled “Lines of Spirit”,showcases works by Nigerian artists Simon Ojeaga, Paul Majek, and AfeezOnakoya. A video circulating on social media shows the ministeraddressing guests at the gallery. Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, who also sharedthe video on X, confirmed that the minister is in the United Kingdom (UK). “Finance minister Wale Edun visits an art exhibition in theUK. On Sunday, Onanuga confirmed that the minister wasindisposed. As a result of Edun’s health condition, Olayemi Cardoso,governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), led Nigeria’s delegation to theWorld Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings in WashingtonDC, United States. Edun reportedly left Abuja for Lagos on Monday night viacommercial flight before travelling abroad for medical care.
