The Presidency on Wednesday slammed the former Governor ofAnambra State, Peter Obi, and his supporters, the Obidients, amid the recentinflation report. Nigeria’s headlineinflation dropped to 18.02 per cent in September 2025, down from 20.12 per centin August. Data from the National Bureau of Statistics indicate thatheadline inflation has dropped for the sixth consecutive time this year. Reacting, President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga,in a post on his official Facebook page, said despite the “significant crash”,Obi would continue his criticism of the country’s economy. He wrote, “Inflation recorded its most significant crash inSeptember, falling from 20.12% to 18.02%.“This is the sixth consecutive month that inflation has beendeclining. Peter Obi and his Obidient mob will never acknowledge this positivedevelopment in the economy. Never!” Recall that Obi, who was the presidential candidate of theLabour Party in the 2023 election, has consistently criticised the currentadministration, saying the government plunged Nigerians into untold hardship.
