Naira records first appreciation against US dollar in four days

The naira recorded its first appreciation against the UnitedStates dollar this week at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday. Central Bank of Nigeria data showed that the Naira gained toN1,471.02 per dollar on Thursday, up from N1,473.29 on Wednesday, when itrecorded the highest dip in the week under review. Thursday’s uptrend showed that the Naira strengthened byN2.27 against the Dollar on a day-to-day basis. However, despite Thursday’s gain, the Naira is yet torecover from the losses recorded in the past three days. At the black market, the Naira remained flat at N1,500 perdollar, according to multiple Bureau de Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja,on Thursday. The development comes as the country’s external reservesstood at $42.67 billion as of October 15th, 2025, up from $42.65 billionrecorded the previous day, according to the apex bank data.
