Police promise to discipline officers seen ‘behaving like cultists’ in viral video

The Imo police command has launched an investigation into aviral video showing officers engaging in “unprofessional conduct”. The clip, which has gained traction on social media, showssome officers in Owerri, the Imo state capital, wearing berets and capsassociated with the Vikings confraternity, also known as ‘Denmark (DNKI)’. Chanting “men mount” periodically, some of the officers werealso seen shooting sporadically into the air. In a statement signed by Henry Okoye, spokesperson of thepolice in Imo, Danjuma said the command would ensure that the officers involvedface disciplinary action after conclusion of investigation. “The commissioner of police strongly condemns the conduct asunethical and unbecoming of police officers,” the statement reads. “He assures the public that the matter is being handled withutmost seriousness and that upon conclusion of investigations, the officersinvolved will face serious disciplinary measures in accordance with policeregulations.” The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining thehighest standards of professionalism and ensuring effective policing in linewith its constitutional mandate.
