Appeal Court ordered Nnamdi Kanu’s release in 2022 – Sowore

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed thatthe Court of Appeal in 2022 asked that the detained leader of the IndigenousPeople of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, be released. Sowore made this revelation on Monday while responding toquestions in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television. He was reacting to the protest carried out on Monday in theFederal Capital Territory, FCT, demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Sowore is the main organiser of the Free Nnamdi Kanuprotest. “We were attacked by the Nigeria police. So, I haven’t doneanything wrong in this protest and we also ended up in the FCT police command. “Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, his brother and elevenothers were arrested by the Nigeria police,” he said. Speaking on court judgments, Sowore said, “The Court ofAppeal in 2022 asked that Nnamdi Kanu be released. “That judgement ought to have taken effect immediately itwas given but the Nigerian government did not honour it.”
