Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra, says Christians arekilling one another in the south-east, noting that the violence in the regionhas nothing to do with religion. Soludo was reacting to US President Donald Trump’s threat to“protect Christians in Nigeria” by attacking the country and “completely wipingout the Islamic terrorists”. Trump was riding on a wave of Christian genocide allegationspeddled by US lawmakers, international media, and local secessionist groups. During a media chat on Sunday, the Anambra governoracknowledged that the US has the right to its own views. “But when it comes to what it does, I am sure it must alsoact within the realm of its own international law,” Soludo said. “There is a deeper conversation, our introspection aboutwhat goes on in the country. In this part of the world, eastern Nigeria, it isnot religious. “People are killing themselves, Christians killingChristians. The people in the bushes are Emmanuel, Peter, and John, allChristian names, and they have maimed and killed thousands of our youths. Ithas nothing to do with religion. “In this part of the country, we are 95 percent Christians, and around the south-east are Christians. The people in the bushes killingpeople bear Christian names. “It is wider than the categorisation of Christians andMuslims. Nigeria will overcome, and it will end in conversation.” Soludo emphasised the need for deeper introspection anddialogue to address the issue.
