The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike,has reacted to viral photos showing his sons accompanying him on local andforeign trips, saying he has the right to carry them along. Wike made this statement on Monday, when he appeared as aguest in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television. He was reacting to the viral photos showing his sonsaccompanying him on local and foreign trips, stressing that his sons, asmaster’s degree holders, needed the exposure. “What law says that my sons shouldn’t travel? Let the FCTsay where they paid ₦1. What official matter? Did they sign any document? Itdoesn’t need to be a personal trip,” he said. When asked whether he was teaching them to becomepoliticians, he said, “No, that’s not correct. My eldest son is a lawyer. Hesaid, ‘No, I’m not going to practice. I want to be a farmer.’ “I said, ‘What do you mean by this? He said, ‘No, this iswhat I want to do.’ I said, ‘Okay’. What do you do? They’ve gone for trainingin Spain. They’ve gone for training in Lisbon. “My second son finished from King’s College, a master’sdegree in Economics. He said he wants to be in real estate.” He expressed happiness that his sons behave responsibly andgive him comfort, adding that they have not given him problems. Just last week, Wike came under heavy criticism for takinghis children to a summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
