APC’s Ukachukwu defeats Labour Party in Peter Obi’s polling unit

The Labour Party (LP) has lost in the polling unit of PeterObi, 2023 presidential candidate of the party, during the Anambra governorshipelection. In the results announced at about 3 pm at polling unit 019,Agulu ward 11, Anaocha LGA, Nicholas Ukachukwu, All Progressives Congress (APC)candidate, polled 73 votes to defeat George Moghalu, LP gubernatorialcandidate, who scored 57 votes. All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came third in thesame unit with 38 votes. Speaking after voting, Obi expressed concerns over theincreasing level of financial inducement among voters. “It is sad that bad governance is fuelling vote buying andselling,” Obi said.He added that reports indicated votes were being traded forbetween N15,000 and N30,000. Obi also campaigned for his party in the election in a statewhere he had won over 95 percent of the votes in the 2023 presidentialelection. UKACHUKWU WINS HIS POLLING UNIT IN ANAMBRA GUBER Ukachukwu also won in his polling unit in Umudiala village,Osumenyi, Nnewi south LGA. At polling unit 12, ward 2, the APC recorded 108 votes,while Charles Soludo, incumbent governor and APGA candidate, polled four votes.Other parties recorded no votes, while two votes were declared invalid. The results were sorted and counted by Maduka Evan, thepresiding officer of INEC at the polling unit. Ukachukwu had earlier expressed confidence about hisperformance in the election. The LP governorship candidate claimed that despite the heavydeployment of security personnel for the election, he had received reports ofwidespread vote buying. The LP candidate also lost his polling unit in Uruagu Ward1, Nnewi north LGA.
