Gunmen believed to be bandits ambushed and k!lled three youths from Duduguru community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, including a local prince, before fleeing with their motorcycle.The attack happened on Monday along Itsiga road in neighboring Doma Local Government Area. Victims were identified as Prince James Delle Iwala son of the late HRH Chief Jonathan Gule Iwala, a prominent Migili traditional ruler who passed away in March 2024 and two companions.The group was en route to a nearby community for a condolence visit when the assailants struck, according to local sources.The killings have ignited anger among area youths, who demand urgent external help to curb rising insecurity. They claim Nasarawa has turned into a safe haven for bandits escaping military crackdowns in adjacent states.In response, the Nasarawa State Government urged calm and vowed decisive action against the perpetrators. A statement from Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, condemned the violence and assured residents of enhanced security collaboration."The government will not tolerate disruptions to our hard-earned peace," Ahemba said. He directed security forces to swiftly apprehend those responsible and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities.The statement also addressed a separate midnight attack on Sarkin Noma community in Keana Local Government Area, which claimed lives, pledging no leniency for "enemies of peace."
