The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command arrested 56 individuals and recovered quantities of illicit drugs and dangerous weapons during a massive coordinated operation targeting criminal black spots across the nation’s capital.The raids, conducted on Wednesday night starting around 11:20 p.m., involved operatives from multiple police divisions including Apo, Asokoro, Karmo, Kubwa, Gwagwa, Gwarinpa, Maitama, Lugbe, Mabushi, Dutse Alhaji, Kurudu, and Bwari. Officers focused on notorious hotspots and abandoned or uncompleted buildings frequently used by criminals as hideouts.Items seized during the operation included large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (marijuana), knives, and other dangerous implements commonly used in criminal activities.All 56 suspects are currently in custody and undergoing screening and interrogation at their respective police divisions. According to police sources, those found guilty will be promptly arraigned in court.The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Police Command to rid Abuja of criminal elements and enhance security for residents.
