Troops of the Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police, have successfully dismantled a major terrorist camp allegedly belonging to the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Ezioha Ukwuorji, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. The raid, conducted under “Operation End B44” on Wednesday at approximately 5:20 p.m., triggered a fierce exchange of gunfire. The terrorists reportedly fled into surrounding bushes, abandoning the camp after sustaining possible gunshot wounds.A thorough search of the hideout yielded:Six pump-action rifles,176 rounds of live ammunition, Several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and Locally fabricated explosives. Operatives also made the grim discovery of multiple decomposed bodies believed to be victims of earlier attacks by the group. Among the remains is suspected to be that of the late ESN commander codenamed “B44,” who intelligence reports indicate died several months ago.Documents and other items recovered at the scene provided evidence of serial kidnappings, attacks on security formations, and extrajudicial killings carried out by the terror cell.Security forces have intensified pursuit of fleeing members and are conducting follow-up operations to recover additional weapons and bring all perpetrators to justice.
