Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has ordered the closure ofall boarding secondary schools in the state as a proactive measure to safeguardstudents. The directive was contained in a statement signed and issuedby the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, BukarAji Bukar. The statement read in part: “Due to the recent securitychallenges we are facing in the country and the need to protect the lives andfuture of our younger ones, the government of Yobe State, under the leadershipof His Excellency Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of YobeState, directed that all boarding secondary schools in the state should beclosed with immediate effect. The schools will be reopened as soon as the securitysituation improves.” The statement further directed that principals of theaffected schools ensure strict compliance.
