Borno: Deputy Speaker confirms abduction of 13 female farmers

The Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly,Abdullahi Askira, has confirmed the abduction of 13 female farmers inAskira-Uba Local Government Area. The victims, all from Huyim District, were reportedly seizedon Saturday while travelling to Mussa District to harvest their farm produce.Residents of Huyim are said to farm in Mussa due to limited access to their ownfarmlands. Askira said one of the abducted women escaped and returnedhome on Sunday morning. The remaining 12, believed to be between the ages of 15and 20, are still missing. The Deputy Speaker, alongside Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume,who represents Borno South, urged security agencies to intensifysearch-and-rescue operations to secure the release of the women. They also called on communities in the area to remainvigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely informationthat could help prevent further attacks.
