Works Minister Goronyo Hosts Chinese Delegation

The Federal Ministry of Works has sealed a new partnership framework with China Global Engineering Corporation (CGGC Global) focused on capacity building, transfer of modern road construction technology, and provision of specialised equipment to Nigerian engineers.Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, announced the development on Monday while receiving a high-level delegation led by CGGC Global Vice President, Mr He Yonglun, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.Goronyo told the delegation that the Federal Government is prioritising skills transfer and local content in all foreign partnerships, saying the collaboration with CGGC will fast-track Nigeria’s drive towards sustainable, high-quality road infrastructure.Areas of immediate cooperation include:Intensive training programmes for Nigerian engineers in advanced road construction and maintenance techniques Supply of modern road maintenance equipment Transfer of cutting-edge methodologies for durable highway design and construction Establishment of long-term mechanisms for technology adaptation and local manufacturing The Minister expressed optimism that the partnership will significantly boost the technical capacity of the Ministry and align Nigeria’s road projects with global best practices.On his part, CGGC Global Vice President He Yonglun reaffirmed the company’s readiness to support Nigeria’s infrastructure transformation, describing the country as a strategic priority market in Africa.The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to immediately set up a Joint Technical Committee that will evaluate specific requests from the Ministry, match them with CGGC’s proposals, and produce a workable Memorandum of Understanding within the shortest possible time.No further details on timelines or financial commitments were disclosed at the end of the closed-door session.
