The Abuja Federal High Court refused to issue a warrant thatwill authorize the management of Sokoto Prison to transport Indigenous Peopleof Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to Abuja for a scheduled settlement of recordsfor his appeal, the IPOB leader’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, alleged onThursday. Settlement of records at the registry of the Federal HighCourt is part of the procedure for filing appeals at the Court of Appeal. Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, who spoke to DAILY POST onThursday morning, provided copies of summons issued by the registrar of theAbuja Federal High Court, directing the IPOB leader to appear on November 28,2025, for the appeal records settlement. A message forwarded to DAILY POST by Prince Emmanuel read,“This is a summons to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to appear on November 28 at the FederalHigh Court in Abuja for the settlement of records regarding the appeal he filedprior to the November 20 judgment. “A production warrant is required for the Sokoto Prison totransport him to Abuja, but the Court declined to issue it.” The summons, dated November 11, 2025, and signed by OjonugwaThomas, Principal Registrar 1, read, “Summons to parties by Registrar to settlerecords (In compliance with Order 8 Rule 2 of the Court of Appeal Rules, 2021). “Take notice that all parties concerned are required toappear before me at the Appeal Section of the Federal High Court Headquarters,Plot 1048 (710), Cadastral Zone A100, Off Shehu Shagari Way, Central BusinessDistrict, Abuja, on 28th day of November, 2025, at the hour of 11:00 am, toproceed with settlement of record of appeal therein.” The appeal in the charge numbered FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2025, isbetween Nnamdi Kanu, appellant, and Federal Republic of Nigeria, respondent. Recall that Kanu was on November 20, 2025,sentenced to life imprisonment after his conviction on terrorism charges by anAbuja Federal High Court presided by Justice James Omotosho. He is currently serving the sentence at the Sokoto Prison.
