Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed the call for his arrest by the Kano State Government. He described the call as unfounded and irresponsible. Ganduje revealed this in a statement issued by his ChiefPress Secretary, Edwin Olofu. According to the statement, the move by Governor Abba KabirYusuf’s administration showed a failure to focus on the real security issuesaffecting the state. “It is deeply unfortunate that rather than addressing theescalating insecurity ravaging the state, Governor Yusuf has chosen to chaseshadows while searching for scapegoats to conceal his glaring failures,” hesaid. According to Ganduje, communities in Bagwai, Shanono,Tsanyawa, and other areas have faced repeated attacks, yet the governor hasneither visited nor shown empathy toward the victims. “His continued absence in moments that require leadershipspeaks volumes of his disconnect from the people he claims to serve,” thestatement added. Ganduje insisted that he has never been associated withviolence nor linked to any act that undermines the peace and stability of KanoState. He stressed that the allegation was only meant to distractthe public. He urged Governor Yusuf to focus on his constitutional dutyof protecting Kano residents instead of engaging in political theatrics andissuing unfounded allegations. Recall that on Friday, the Kano State Government called forthe immediate arrest of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over alleged inciting statementsand attempts to create an illegal militia group in the state.
