Northern Nigeria’s governors and top traditional rulers are holding an urgent closed-door meeting in Kaduna today to confront the region’s worsening security crisis.Hosted by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the emergency session brings together the Northern Governors’ Forum and the Northern Traditional Leaders Council.The meeting is co-chaired by the Forum’s Chairman, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, who leads the traditional rulers.Participants are focusing on the sharp rise in bandit attacks, terrorism, abductions, and farmer-herder violence that have killed hundreds and forced thousands from their homes across northern states in recent months.The high-level talks underscore growing alarm over the deteriorating safety of lives and property in the region. Outcomes of the deliberations have not yet been made public.
