Residents and businesses in parts of Ogba, Ikeja, and Alausa areas of Lagos are currently experiencing power outages following a technical fault at a Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) injection substation.Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) confirmed the disruption in a customer notice on Tuesday, attributing the blackout to a “132kV jumper cut” at the TCN substation. A jumper cut occurs when the connecting cable (jumper) in high-voltage lines is damaged, disconnected, or severed.“Dear Customer, the current power outage is due to a 132kV jumper cut at the TCN Injection Substation (ISS),” the notice read. “The TCN technical team is already working to clear the fault to ensure supply is restored as soon as possible.”A resident of Ogba told news men, the area had been in darkness since Monday. “No light in my area since yesterday,” the customer lamented.IKEDC spokesperson Kingsley Okotie clarified that the outage is limited to specific zones and does not affect the entire Ikeja DisCo franchise.“It doesn’t totally affect the whole of our franchise. The message was sent to only customers in areas affected,” Okotie said. “We are still working to resolve the issues; that’s where we are at the moment.”TCN engineers are on-site carrying out repairs, though no specific timeline for full restoration has been announced. The incident comes just weeks after the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) commended Ikeja DisCo, alongside Eko and Abuja DisCos, for strong performance in billing, revenue collection, and recovery efficiency. Nationally, electricity distribution companies recorded N196.26 billion in revenue for September 2025.
