The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa onMultimedia, Taiwo Gbamila, has taken a swipe at the Commissioner ofInfrastructure, Abiola Olawoye, as well as the Commissioner for Finance, WunmiIsaac, for allegedly frustrating the media aides of the governor from properlyshowcasing Aiyedatiwa’s strides. While disclosing that Olawoye, since his appointment, hasbeen inaccessible, Gbamila emphasised that the infrastructure commissioner’sactions have been hindering the efforts of the media aides to highlight thegovernor’s achievements. The stance of the governor’s aide was in reaction to theposition of Olawoye, who purportedly launched an attack on the governor’s mediaaides on Friday during an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, the statecapital. The infrastructure commissioner had, during the meeting, alleged that the governor’s media aides were shirking their responsibilities inshowcasing the ongoing projects of his ministry. Infuriated by the development, Gbamila, in a 12-minute,59-second video which has gone viral within the state’s social media space, stated that Olawoye and Isaac have been frustrating the governor’s media aidesin their efforts to showcase and highlight Aiyedatiwa’s accomplishments. He said, “We really don’t understand the issue Olawoye haswith the media aides of the governor for him to continue to disparage them.Even when all of us were working to ensure that Aiyedatiwa emerged as thegovernor, you (Olawoye) were never in the picture. “Even when you were made a commissioner, nobody got angry;we all embraced and celebrated you. But in all sincerity, Olawoye has been theone frustrating us from properly showcasing the ongoing projects of Mr Governorto the people. “When I was made the chairman of a committee by the ChiefPress Secretary (CPS), Ebenezer Adeniyan, to identify and showcase the worksand projects of the governor, Olawoye, on a series of occasions, prevented usfrom seeing or having access to the project sites. “There is absolutely no way for us to project the activitiesand strides of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa that your ministry(Infrastructure) will not be involved. We called you (Olawoye) on so manyoccasions; you never picked up your calls and ignored the messages we sent toyou, even those from the CPS. “Both you (Olawoye) and the Commissioner for Finance waged awar against the media aides. You are actually the ones running Aiyedatiwa’sgovernment down. The Commissioner for Finance, on her part, has refused torelease running grants for the media unit, which has run into nine months now.We are just dying in silence. But the two of you will always blame us for theproblems that you caused. “The CPS has been the one calming us, the media aides, fromspeaking out, assuring us that everything will be calmly resolved. The CPS willmost of the time use his influence to source funds elsewhere to get the jobdone because the Commissioner for Finance has refused to release a grant to hisoffice because of petty issues.” Meanwhile, as of press time, Olawoye and Isaac had notreacted to the allegations, but a top cabinet member, who craved anonymity, revealed that the outburst by Gbamila, who is known to be a reserved gentleman, was due to bottled-up tension within the administration, which many appointeesof Aiyedatiwa have silently complained about.
