Gunmen have reportedly killed a police officer and tworesidents during an ambush on a patrol team in Doma LGA of Nasarawa state. Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused onthe Lake Chad region, said the attack occurred at about 6:30 pm on Sunday alongAjimaka village road, onwards to Rukubi town. Makana said the team, attached to Operation Restore Peaceand led by Jampi Mbursa, a police inspector, was ambushed while on routinerounds alongside local vigilante members. The publication reported that the attackers shot Mbursa andtwo civilians, identified as Julius Igbogh and Raphael Julius, both residentsof Ajimaka village. Makama noted that the assailants reportedly made away withthe inspector’s AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition. It said the victims were taken to a nearby hospital wherethey were confirmed dead by medical personnel, adding that their bodies weredeposited at the mortuary. The report said efforts are ongoing by the police to recoverthe stolen firearm and apprehend those responsible for the ambush.
