Gov. Dapo Abiodun distributes SUVs to Ogun LG chairs to boost grassroots governance

Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state, has distributed sportsutility vehicles (SUVs) to chairpersons of the state’s 20 LGAs. The SUVs were presented in Abeokuta, the state capital, onThursday as part of the Christmas season activities. Speaking on behalf of the governor, Ganiyu Hamzat,commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, said the initiativewas aimed at strengthening administration and service delivery at thegrassroots. Hamzat added that was in line with the governor’s commitmentto empowering local councils to function more effectively. He praised the council chairmen for their roles indelivering development projects at the community level and assured them of thestate government’s continued collaboration to improve the living conditions ofresidents. Afolasade Adeyemo, the chairperson of the Association ofLocal Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun state chapter, described thedonation as timely and significant, thanking the governor for keeping hispromise. Adeyemo, who also chairs Odeda LGA, highlighted Abiodun’srecord in sectors such as education, housing, healthcare and roadinfrastructure, noting that his ISEYA agenda has positively repositioned thestate. She pledged the support of LG chairmen in advancing theadministration’s development goals. According to the council leaders, the SUVs will improvetheir mobility, enabling them to reach rural communities more easily andrespond promptly to the needs of residents at the grassroots.
