Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has revealed thatPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde N50 billion assupport for the Ibadan explosion. Fayose disclosed this in an interview with TVC on Friday. He criticized Makinde for telling Nigerians skewed detailson his conversation with President Tinubu. “The president of Nigeria, yes, he wanted the sitting; hewanted the minister to be appointed. Circumstances did not allow him to getthat slot. “But you did not tell Nigerians you got, at the prerogative,at the mercy of Mr. President, 50 billion Naira in support of the explosion inIbadan. He never said that to Nigeria. So, the president can say the explosionis not worth more than 10 billion.” Fayose alleged that the 50 billion Naira provided by thepresidency to assist Oyo State in managing the aftermath of the explosion didnot go directly into the state coffers. “The 50 billion did not come into the coffers of Oyo state. It came with you coming to interface with the president because you came andsaid you met with the president,” he said. He further accused Makinde of failing to acknowledge thepresident’s support publicly, stating, “You only said the part where you saidthe president told you to ‘go and organize APC for me,’ and I said, ‘I cannotorganize.’” But you did not tell Nigerians what the president did for you anddid for the good people of your state.” Fayose has also accused Makinde of destroying the PeoplesDemocratic Party in the South-West. Recall that Makinde, in a recent interview, declared that heis not supporting President Tinubu in 2027.
