‘Nigeria boxing community praying for you’ — Wale Edun wishes Joshua quick recovery

Wale Edun, the president of the Nigeria Boxing Federation(NBF), says the country’s boxing community is praying for Anthony Joshua aftercar accident. On Monday, a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua and his team rammedinto a stationary truck along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Two of Joshua’s close associates — Kevin Latif Ayodele, hispersonal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, died inthe accident. The boxer survived the crash with minor injuries and wastaken to a medical hospital in Lagos. He is now in a stable condition. In a statement on Tuesday, Edun, who is the minister for finance and was elected unopposed as NBFpresident in October, expressed his condolences to the families of those whodied in the crash. He described the incident as “distressing” and wished Joshuaa speedy recovery. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said Joshua’s SUV’sexcessive speed and wrongful overtaking caused the crash. Although born in England, Joshua often visits his nativehome in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria.He was also in Nigeria last year, where he hung out withcelebrities and also presented President Bola Tinubu with a signed boxingglove.The latest visit comes a few days after Joshua knocked outJake Paul in an exhibition heavyweight bout at the Kaseya Centre, Miami.
