Senior Political Assistant to former Vice President AtikuAbubakar, Demola Olarenwaju, has described the defection of Peter Obi to theAfrican Democratic Congress, ADC, as ‘historical’. Olarenwaju urged followers of Atiku and Obi to work togetherand ensure a joint ticket. Posting on X, he noted that the future of Nigerians is notsecure under President Bola Tinubu. Speaking in Enugu State, Obi, a former Anambra Stategovernor, had announced his defection from the Labour Party to the ADC. Reacting to the development, Olarenwaju wrote: “Peter Obi’smove to ADC is a historical pivot, repeatedly predicted by some of us – seeingthe sun at midday is however not a sign of great eyesight, it is rather theability to see the sun at midnight that proves our imagined reality asenlightened. “The call now therefore even as we welcome Obi to analliance he has been part of from the beginning, is for Obidients andAtikulates to sheathe swords and make this happen. “It is after all, our future and it is not safe at all underTinubu.”
