Gunmen have abducted Maruf Musa, a former member of the Ogunstate house of assembly. Musa, who represented Ogun Waterside constituency during thesixth assembly (2007-2011), was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday night inIbiade, Ogun Waterside LGA of the state. The assailants were said to have fired shots to disperseresidents before abducting the former legislator during prayers at a mosque inhis compound. Babaseyi Boluwatife, police spokesperson in Ogun, confirmedthe abduction to TheCable on Wednesday evening. Boluwatife said security operatives have deployed to rescuethe victim. “Security measures have been activated, including thedeployment of the anti-kidnapping unit, and the public is advised to remaincalm pending official updates,” he said. Last month, Ogun state police command arrested a notorioussyndicate of Cameroonian nationals involved in kidnapping on the pretext ofvisa processing.
