Magnus Abe thanks Tinubu, Wike after appointment as NUPRC chair

Magnus Abe, a former senator, has thanked President BolaTinubu and Nyesom Wike after his appointment as chairman of the NigerianUpstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). On Monday, Tinubu asked the Senate to confirm Abe and 20others as nominees for the boards of the NUPRC and the Nigerian Midstream andDownstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). In a statement on Tuesday, Abe said his support for Tinubuhas always been based on conviction rather than expectation of reward. “My love and support for President Tinubu was not just basedon my expectations of reward, but on my conviction that the president will dothings differently from every other leader, and Nigeria will be better, and thenumbers will show that Nigeria is better,” he said.Abe said recent developments show that the administration’spolicies are beginning to yield results. “Today the president is doing things differently, and thenumbers are beginning to show that Nigeria is on the right course,” he said. He described his appointment as an opportunity to contributeto national transformation in a critical sector.“With my appointment as chairman of the NUPRC, the presidenthas not only given me a great and unique opportunity to contribute to thetransformation of our country in a key sector, but has demonstrated once againthe qualities that make him a master of the game,” Abe said. The former senator said Tinubu’s leadership has broughttrust across party lines. “Nigeria is not becoming a one-party state; rather, inTinubu, Nigerians have simply found a leader that all Nigerians can trust,” hesaid. Abe pledged continued loyalty to the president.“Thank you, Mr President, a father that rewards genuineloyalty and promotes competence; I will never stop following Tinubu,” he said. He also thanked Wike, minister of the Federal CapitalTerritory (FCT), for his support during the 2023 elections. Abe described Wike as instrumental in delivering Riversstate to Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). “No one can claim to love Mr President and be ungrateful toour ‘Mr Project’; his support at a critical point meant a lot to our successand continues to be pivotal to the success of the Tinubu political family inRivers state,” he said.He said Wike’s efforts helped forge a “renewed hope family”in Rivers state. Abe also expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity toserve. “Finally, to Almighty God who makes all things possible,whose mercy alone endures forever, to you, eternal father be all glory, praise, and adoration forever and ever,” he said. He urged Nigerians to support the administration’s reformagenda. “To all my friends and well-wishers across the land, justpraise God, ignore the naysayers, pay your tax, and support the reform agenda;better days are coming for our country,” Abe said.
