The Zamfara State government has formally petitioned President Bola Tinubu, seeking his intervention in the alleged abduction of Saleem Abubakar, a technical assistant to Governor Dauda Lawal. In a statement released on Tuesday by Sulaiman Idris, media aide to the governor, the state government accused federal authorities of using "federal might" to harass and intimidate opposition figures.Idris claimed that Abubakar was abducted in Abuja by operatives reportedly linked to a special forces unit operating under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).The statement described the incident as part of a broader pattern of intimidation against members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration in Zamfara. The petition urges President Tinubu to investigate the matter and ensure the safe return of the aide.As of now, there has been no official response from the Presidency, the ONSA, or security agencies regarding the allegations. The development highlights ongoing political tensions in Zamfara State, where Governor Lawal (PDP) has had a strained relationship with his predecessor, Bello Matawalle, who is now the Minister of State for Defence under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
