The Federal Capital, FCT, minister, Nyesom Wike, has filed anorder challenging the ongoing strike by workers of the Federal CapitalTerritory Administration. The lawsuit was filed before the National Industrial Court. The Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) had commenced anindefinite industrial action following the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum,leading to the shutdown of major government offices, including the FederalCapital Territory Administration (FCTA) Secretariat. In response, court filings indicate that Nyesom Wike and theFCTA have approached the National Industrial Court in Abuja, seeking an orderto restrain the unions from picketing, blocking offices, or disrupting officialactivities. According to court documents, it bears suit numberNICN/ABJ/17/2026 and is slated for hearing on Monday. Justice E. D. Subilim has granted approval for substitutedservice of court processes on the union leadership, authorising service throughnewspaper publication, as well as the posting of notices at the JUAC officewithin the FCTA Secretariat. Notwithstanding the legal action, JUAC has maintained itsstance, vowing to continue the strike. The union insists that workers’ demands have yet to beaddressed. It urged members to remain at home until further notice.
