Kwankwaso Declares January 23 ‘Day of Betrayal’ Over Abba Yusuf’s Defection

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party,NNPP, in 2023, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared January 23 as a “Day ofBetrayal”. Kwankwaso made the declaration following Kano Stategovernor, Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to dump the NNPP. Recall that Kano governor officially resigned from NNPP onFriday ahead of his imminent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC. Addressing his teaming supporters in Kano, Kwankwaso saidthe day should be recorded in history as a day of betrayal, to ensure globalawareness. He said, “Today, as the leader of this Movement, I declarethe 23rd of January as Betrayal Day. “We believe that day should be permanently recorded inhistory to ensure global awareness of betrayal and the breaking of trust.” Kwankwaso had begged the governor to remain in theopposition party, stating that the hard-fought mandate shouldn’t be handed overto his political rivals.
