You will regret this’ – Kwankwaso warns Gov Yusuf over exit from NNPP

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria PeoplesParty, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has issued a stern warning over thedefection of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, from the party. The former Kano governor spoke in an interview on BBC Hausa. He cautioned that the governor’s exit from the party willlead to consequences, adding that Yusuf and others who left with him would, intime, come to regret their decision to abandon the platform that facilitatedtheir rise to power. Describing the development as shocking and difficult tounderstand, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement said the manner in whichthe governor departed the party had unsettled members and supporters acrossKano State. Kwankwaso revealed that many individuals had approached himexpressing doubts about the defection, with some speculating that it might havebeen part of a broader political deal. “Several people have come to me saying they believe whathappened was part of an arrangement, either between me and him or between meand those around him,” he said. “Even I, on many occasions, find it hard to believe thatevents unfolded the way they did.” He stressed that time would eventually expose the fullimplications of the decision, noting that political actions often have lastingconsequences. It will be recalled that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf formallydefected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday, following hisresignation from the NNPP on Friday.
