The Federal Government has submitted Reno Omokri’s television interviews, online publications, and related electronic materials as evidence in the cyberstalking trial of activist Omoyelé Sowore.Court documents filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, include two TV appearances by Omokri, one on News Central Television and another on Channels Television’s Politics Today. The prosecution also listed supporting articles from Vanguard (December 2025) and Punch (January 2026), backed by a USB drive containing digital copies and a Section 84 Evidence Act 2011 compliance certificate for the electronic items.Sowore faces a two-count amended charge of cyberstalking President Bola Tinubu, lodged by the Department of State Services (DSS). He pleaded not guilty, denying that posts on X and Facebook in August 2025, calling the president a “criminal” were intended to incite public disorder or unrest. The defence previously introduced 2023 video clips of Omokri describing President Tinubu as an “international drug baron” during an ARISE News interview. Those clips were admitted as exhibits, prompting debate over consistency in prosecuting similar allegations.Omokri has since withdrawn his earlier claims, stating they were based on false information, and has issued public apologies (including on air) as well as private apologies to the president. The trial, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/484/2025, continues with upcoming sessions expected to review the newly tendered evidence and hear witness testimonies.
