Folarin Falana, the rapper better known as Falz, hascriticised Christian leaders in Nigeria for allegedly turning a blind eye tocurrent security challenges in the country. In an Instagram post on Sunday, the rapper reacted to thekilling of at least 75 residents in Kaiama LGA of Kwara, expressing frustrationover the government’s perceived inaction. Falz also called out Christian leaders for “urging people topray” while “allowing politicians to use church platforms for campaigns”despite the country’s persistent insecurity. “I don’t know what’s wrong with us. I don’t know when we aregoing to wake up. Nearly 200 people were killed in Kwara, and the presidentonly released a routine statement saying he was saddened. Who has been arrestedor persecuted? Nothing was said, just carried on,” he said. “They are killing scores of people every day, yet todaypeople will go to church. Religious leaders tell their followers to sit downand pray, saying God will save them. They are already campaigning for the nextelection with several groups like Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria. He is? “These guys will still go to your religious leaders, andthey will allow them on the pulpit to campaign to you and convince you to votefor this same evil. With the same pattern they have been using for years, youwill follow suit and vote.” The rapper claimed that religious leaders fail to educatetheir congregations on concrete political obstacles to progress. “Your religious leader will not tell you that the Senate iscurrently refusing to adopt a resolution amending the Electoral Act to allowreal-time transmission of election results because they know it would makerigging difficult. Instead, he will tell you to sit down and pray for aspiritual solution. No problem, let’s be waiting,” he said. In the caption accompanying his video, Falz posed a directquestion to the clergy. “What are our so-called religious ‘leaders’ doing for thepeople? At times like this, how add they moving?” he asked.
