Abba Yusuf’s defection to APC has set Kano on path of progress, says Uzodimma

Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, says the defection of Abba Yusuf, Kano stategovernor, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has placed the state on thepath of progress. Vice-President Kashim Shettima formally welcomed Yusuf tothe APC at a grand rally held at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Monday. The governor had told thousands of supporters present at therally that Kano can no longer be sidelined from the centre. He said his decision to join the APC is essential topositioning the state at the heart of national decision-making and securing abetter future for citizens. In a statement on Tuesday, Uzodimma said Yusuf made “a greatchoice” by joining the APC, noting that the party has assured the people ofKano that their state is now firmly on the path of progress. “With their continued support for President Bola AhmedTinubu, GCFR, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the All Progressives Congress(APC), even greater prosperity is assured,” Uzodimma stated. He noted that as a party, APC’s progressive drive forNigeria’s transformation “has continued to receive widespread admiration, asevery subnational government is desirous of associating with progress anddelivering prosperity across their respective states”. The APC governors forum chairman said he is deeplyencouraged by the growing alignment of leaders and stakeholders, who recognisethat sustainable development is best achieved through unity of purpose andcommitment to people-centred governance. He said President Tinubu has continued to diversify theeconomy, and Kano state, long renowned for its massive commercial activities,stands to benefit immensely. “By supporting Mr. President and the APC, Kano is activelypromoting economic growth within the state and contributing meaningfully tonational development,” Uzodimma added. “We must, therefore, continue to drive and strengthen thiscollective support for sustained progress.”
