Paul Ibe, media aide to a chieftain of the AfricanDemocratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has described an ArtificialIntelligence, AI, generated video of the former Vice President promising amassive giveaway to Nigerians as a scam. In the purported AI video, Atiku could be heard saying: “Iwill be giving massive giveaways this month and selecting people at random as away of showing support to every average Nigerian out there, as a way ofsupporting those who believe in a better tomorrow. Simply drop your details andsign up.” But Atiku’s media aide, in a quick rebuttal, distanced hisprincipal from the shambolic empowerment scheme trending online. Posting on his Facebook page, Ibe noted that Atiku willcontinue to work with credible Nigerians who are committed and believe inNigeria. He wrote: “His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, former VicePresident of Nigeria and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress believesin a better Nigeria. “To this end, he is working with others who believe in, andare committed to the Nigeria of our dream. However, we wish to alert Nigeriansthat this scheme is a ‘wayo’ (scam). “Don’t fall for it. Their plan is to extort your hard-earnedmoney and compromise your data. Kindly ignore, please.”
