Uba Sani, Kaduna state governor, says he has no preferredcandidates amongst all the aspirants for elective positions during the upcomingparty primaries. Sani spoke on Tuesday night during the breaking of Ramadanfast with members of Kaduna state house of assembly. He vowed not to interfere with the primaries or selectionprocess that will produce APC flag bearers in Kaduna state, but promised tosupport candidates that were chosen by the people. “My advice to every aspirant who is seeking for any officeis to get the support of party members,” he said. ”I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries thatwill take place between April and May this year. I will abide by what thepeople decide.” The governor said President Bola Tinubu is his onlycandidate and he promised to ensure his re-election in the 2027 election. He urged aspirants who lose out in the primaries to resistthe urge of working against the party because doing so will becounterproductive. He recalled when he was earlier “shortchanged” in the APCcongress during the previous administration, whereby most of his supporterswere prevented from clinching party positions. “At that time, some people wanted me to work against theparty. I told them that I wouldn’t work against the house that I helped tobuild. As God will have it, I’m the Governor today,” he said. “I advise everyone party member to work for the victory ofAPC. The opposition will try to instigate some members, especially after theprimaries because our party is the only party that is still standing. We shouldresist this temptation. The party belongs to all of us.” The governor warned that the opposition would use thesecurity challenges in the country to campaign against APC in the 2027 generalelections. He pointed out that the security situation in kaduna statehas been improving since the present administration assumed office in 2023,adding that there is still room for improvement. Sani said his administration has reopened 535 schools and 85health facilities that were closed due to insecurity since he assumed office in2023.
