CAF has rescheduled the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations(WAFCON) to hold between July and August. The continental football governing body announced therescheduling in a statement on Thursday. The 2026 WAFCON was initially scheduled to take place fromMarch 17 through April 3 in Morocco. However, CAF has revealed that adjustments have been made toits plans for the competition “to ensure the success of this important women’scompetition, in the light of certain unforeseen circumstances”. The new dates for the tournament will be from July 25 toAugust 16. “In October 2024, the Confédération Africaine de Football(“CAF”) granted the hosting rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cupof Nations (“WAFCON”) 2026 to Morocco and this tournament was scheduled for 17March to 3 April 2026,” the statement reads. “After discussions between CAF and its partners, FIFA andother stakeholders, CAFdecided to reschedule the dates of the TotalEnergies CAFWAFCON 2026, to 25 July – 16 August 2026; to ensure the success of thisimportant women’s competition, in the light of certain unforeseencircumstances. “Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 areunderway and all the parties are confident that it will be very successful.
