Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, hasofficially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Amaechi completed his registration at ward 8 in Ubima LGA ofRivers state on Friday morning. The development comes hours after the office of the ADC inthe community was set ablaze by unknown persons. Residents reportedly woke up to an early morning fire thatdestroyed a section of the party office and caused panic in the area. Amaechi urged supporters who gathered to welcome him to shunall forms of violence that could lead to loss of life. “Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death ofsomebody — don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meetingin our community,” he said. “We thank the commissioner of police and the director ofDSS, they showed a lot of professionalism. In fact, I wasn’t expecting thatfrom them; I thought they would be behind the criminals.” Amaechi urged security agencies to fish out thoseresponsible for the burning of the ADC office in Ubima.
