Popular social media personality, King Mitchy, has publiclyapologised to Nigerians following backlash over a recent live video in whichshe admitted to taking a substance while on air. In a video shared on her Instagram page, Mitchy said she hadreflected on her actions and acknowledged that what she did was wrong,especially because many young girls look up to her. “I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions. For somedays I’ve thought about my behaviour and I know that I was wrong,” she wrote. She admitted that taking the substance during the live videowas inappropriate and expressed regret over disappointing her followers. “I want to be held accountable for the substance I took onlive video. That was very wrong of me because there are young girls that arelooking up to me one day, and I know I disappointed a lot of people,” sheadded. Mitchy also tendered a public apology to Seyi Tinubu, whomshe referred to as her boss, stating that although she had apologisedprivately, she felt the need to do so publicly since the incident happened inthe public space. “My boss, ST Seyi Tinubu, I’m so sorry. I know I apologisedprivately but I did not disrespect you privately I disrespected you publicly,so I want to apologise publicly. I’m so sorry sir,” she said. She further apologised to the Ooni of Ife for mentioning hisname during the controversy. “To the Ooni of Ife, I’m so sorry for bringing your nameinto this, daddy,” she stated. Mitchy also addressed activist VeryDarkMan, acknowledginghis advocacy and expressing regret for previously confronting him. “To VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you’re fighting for,you’re fighting for Nigeria and we can make Nigeria a better place. I’m sorryfor coming at you like that. Maybe now I understand you better,” she said. She concluded by noting that the activist needs moresupporters rather than critics in the fight for a better Nigeria. “You need more supporters, not people to fight you. I’msorry, my brother. Thank you,” Mitchy added.
