In the first part of this series, I argued that the systematic absorption of opposition into the ruling party has created a consolidation trap that weakens the Nigerian Republic’s capacity for self-correction. But there is a second crisis, at once more visible and more fundamental, that now confronts the federation: the erosion of sovereignty itself.
