Dr Bukar Shuaib, who died in February 2006 at the age of 79, was the doyen of Nigerian Vets. He was recognised as the first Nigerian to hold a DVM, the professional doctorate required to practice veterinary medicine. He is today reputed to be No 1 on the register of the Veterinary Association of Nigeria.
