Global Overview: La Niña is present. Flooding risks are high in areas of Eastern Africa, Yemen, Central America, Hispaniola, and Northern South America, while drought persists in western Angola and southern Madagascar. Africa Weather Hazards Flooding persists across much of eastern Africa, while drought affects western and central Angola and southern Madagascar. 1. Inundation remains in the Sudd wetlands of northern South Sudan. 2. Central and western Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) experience dryness. Drought occurs in western and central Angola. 3. Dryness prevails in Madagascar. Drought has settled in over the south following poor rainfall since January. 4. Flooding and landslides have occurred in parts of Liberia, Ethiopia, Angola, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, and northwestern Madagascar. 5. Above-average rainfall is expected to cause localized flooding in southwestern Cameroon, the northern parts of Equatorial Guinea, and exacerbate flooding in southwestern Angola. 6. Southwestern Madagascar is likely to experience hot conditions during the outlook period.
