Key Points UNRWA launched its emergency response in Lebanon on 4 March 2026. As of 7 April, it operates two emergency shelters [1] : Siblin Training Centre (STC) in Saida Area and Battir School in Nahr el-Bared Camp in northern Lebanon. By 7 April, a total of 1,719 displaced people (512 families) had been registered in the two UNRWA emergency shelters. On 13 March, UNRWA launched an appeal for US$12.3 million to support up to 10,000 people in the Agency’s two emergency shelters and 63,000 vulnerable Palestine Refugees outside of shelters. Tensions in Ein El Hilweh Camp remain elevated in the wake of armed clashes that broke out at the end of March [2] . Between 1 and 7 April, no security incidents affecting on-duty UNRWA personnel were reported. Overall Situation By 6 April, the Ministry of Social Affairs had documented the displacement of 1,049,000 [3] individuals, including 138,532 individuals hosted in 678 shelters [4] . Between 1 and 7 April, the security situation in Lebanon remained highly volatile and deteriorating. More than 200,000 people have crossed into Syria since 2 March, including over 1,200 Palestine Refugees from Syria [5] . In Ein El Hilweh Camp, critical operations have resumed since 2 April following the armed clashes and heightened tensions among armed groups on 30 March.
