HIGHLIGHTS As of March 2026, an estimated 82,786 people, including 48,016 children, have fled into northern Côte d’Ivoire due to the deteriorating security situation in Burkina Faso and Mali. No new population displacement has been reported since January 2026. On 29 March 2026, heavy rainfall destroyed two bridges along the road linking Doropo–Gogo–Téhini in the Bounkani region, temporarily isolating the affected communities and significantly restricting access to essential services. During the first quarter of 2026, heavy rains and strong winds caused damage to the Soumailavogo primary school (Ouangolodougou, Tchologo region), disrupting safe learning conditions for over 38 students and 3 teachers. Côte d’Ivoire continues to face the mpox outbreak declared on 1 July 2024. To date, a total of 1,012 suspected cases have been identified, including 68 reported in 2026. Of these, 256 cases have been confirmed across 48 health districts, with three deaths reported among the confirmed cases. During the first quarter of 2026, UNICEF continued to work closely with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire to meet humanitarian needs, including through the following interventions: - Five health centres in five Northen health districts (Boundiali, Korhogo, Ferkessédougou, Bouna and Ouangolodougou) received PCI-WASH kits, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers. 350 children under five were screened for wasting, and 104 severely malnourished children received treatment. - 1,760 people, including865 children, were provided with safe water for drinking and domestic needs. - 973 refugee children have access to education through Temporary Learning Spacesacross the two hosting sites.
