Country: Zimbabwe Source: World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. Executive Summary Situation Overview Zimbabwe’s food security situation in March 2026 remained fragile, shaped by uneven rainfall, rising basic commodity costs and weak household purchasing power. Although generally favourable rains supported agricultural activity in many areas, localized excess moisture caused waterlogging and heightened crop damage risks in parts of Masvingo and Matabeleland. As own-produced food stocks declined, households relied more heavily on markets, where affordability became the main constraint. Two fuel price increases during the month (diesel +35 percent; petrol +39 percent) further raised transport, production and food costs in both rural and urban markets. Livestock conditions were mostly fair to good, but animal health risks remained elevated, with tick-borne diseases, Lumpy Skin Disease and Foot and Mouth Disease reported in several districts. Overall, livelihoods remained weak and of low return, with persistent structural pressures continuing to undermine food security outcomes.
