In March 2026, the Central African Republic (CAR) faced significant humanitarian challenges due to ongoing security issues and climate-related disasters. An attack in Bowaye on March 11 resulted in injuries to five individuals and displaced around 1,000 residents, who are now in urgent need of humanitarian aid. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is actively responding to the crisis by providing emergency kits, food assistance, and critical protection services, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women and girls, who are at increased risk of gender-based violence. Additionally, severe storms in Bouca Centre on March 13 exacerbated the situation, affecting 857 people and prompting UNFPA to distribute life-saving support. Throughout the month, UNFPA facilitated access to sexual and reproductive health services for 1,566 individuals and reached over 5,300 people with GBV prevention initiatives, while also highlighting a significant funding gap of 82 percent for its ongoing humanitarian operations in the region.
