The European Union has announced a significant funding initiative of €45 million to be directed to Lebanon's Ministry of Social Affairs, marking a pivotal shift in its partnership with the Lebanese government. This funding will primarily support the AMAN programme, which provides cash assistance to vulnerable families, ensuring that 90,000 of the most at-risk households receive aid over the next five months. Additionally, €5 million will be allocated to enhance institutional reforms within the Ministry, focusing on improving beneficiary databases to ensure efficient aid distribution. The announcement, made at the Grand Serail, was attended by key officials including Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Sayed and EU Ambassador Sandra De Waele, who emphasized the importance of this direct partnership in fostering trust and enhancing support systems in Lebanon.
