The Nigerian government has formally requested that the South African authorities take measures to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians and other black immigrants in the country. This appeal comes in light of increasing incidents of xenophobic violence targeting these communities. The statement, issued on Wednesday, was signed by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), who highlighted the urgent need for protection amid rising concerns over the safety of black immigrants in South Africa.
